Dead Fingers Talk
23 individuals and collaborators (whether sound artists, curators, musicians, writers, film and video artists, academics or new-media artists) will be contributing a recording to form a major exhibition that seeks to demonstrate correlations between William Burroughs’ radical tape experiments of the ‘60s and ‘70s and a contemporary sonic environment. Joe Ambrose has agreed to contribute to the exhibition, called Dead Fingers Talk.
The two-month exhibition is due to take place in May and June 2010 as the inaugural exhibition in IMT gallery’s new premises in Hackney, London. IMT is a non-profit contemporary art gallery that has an annual emphasis on sound. During the exhibitions run, there will be a symposium on the subject of Burroughs’ engagement with sound and its relevance to contemporary practitioners.
